The roof is the most exposed part of a house, so to extend the lifespan of your roof as much as possible, it's important to perform a roof check at least once a year.
If there are any growths such as moss or algae, the roof can be treated with commercially available products designed to combat green coatings. However, it should be noted that algae only pose a cosmetic problem and do not reduce the lifespan of the roof tiles. Lack of maintenance can lead to deformations of the roof tile, which could mean that the warranty becomes void.
As the roof tiles age and the surface treatment wears down, you can eventually refresh the surface by first cleaning the roof and then applying paint designed for concrete. Be aware that using a high-pressure washer on concrete is not advisable, as it can degrade the surface and greatly increase the risk of growths and other issues. Broken roof tiles should be replaced as soon as possible to avoid water damage.
Debris from trees and similar on the roof, in valley gutters, roof gutters, and downspouts should be removed. Leaves and small branches should also be cleared from ventilation openings at the eave and ridge to ensure that ventilation passages are clear.
