History
Concrete on Time
IBF specializes in concrete - for all purposes. We are at the forefront of developing new products and solutions. It applies to both quality, functionality, and aesthetics. We provide solution for the Danish Industry, and since our founding in 1960, IBF has been a key partner in construction for productions, privates, and the public sector.
IBF stands for "Concrete on time". And time is an essential factor in everything we do, including the past, present, and future. We build our expertise on a solid foundation of knowledge. We solve complex tasks based on current needs - but also thinking about future needs. We respect that time is critical for most construction projects - from timely advice to delivery on time.
It started in 1960
It all began in 1960 when Johannes Rosenkilde purchased a small cement foundry in Ikast. It only took a few years before space became too tight, triggering the first of many expansions over the years in Ikast - both at the factory on Lysholt Allé, where the Headquarter is placed at F.L. Smith's Vej in Ikast Industry East.
IBF has grown over the years both organically and through acquisitions. Mergers and corporate takeovers have most often occurred in connection with generation shift, as the industry has been characterized by family owned companies. Several af these companies have been taken over by IBF over time, making IBF a nationwide company. As far as possible, the aquired companies continued to be run by previous owners/managers, although the recent slowdown has resulted in some being closed down and others merged.
The development has included product areas such as drainage products (pipes, wells, separators, etc.), as well as curbstones, tiles, and paving stones, including special products, concrete roof tiles, and ready-mix concrete. This expansion of the product range has made IBF a significant and stable player in the Danish Industry.
Today, the sons Mogens and Preben Rosenkilde lead the company, both of whom have been with the company for several years.
IBF - 60 years with concrete
In the big picture, 60 years might not seem like much, but in the building industry, only few can demonstrate the same continuity and stable development that IBF has shown over the years.
The rapid development in the 1960s meant that IBF, like several other companies in the industry, transitioned from being a cement foundry to a modern industrial manufacturing company. Since the 1960s, the number of members in the Danish Concrete Industry Association decreased from about 450 members to around 45 in 2018. For IBF, there has also been a significant development in the product range within tiles and paving stones. Today, there are well over 100 different variants compared to 50 years ago.
IBF abroad
In the years following the fall of the Berlin Wall, IBF explored opportunities for the distribution of concrete production in the former East Germany and Poland. In 1992, IBF acquired a concrete factory in Boleslawiec, Poland, which is relatively close to the German border, thereby enabling export to the German market. A roof tile factory from Denmark was installed at the factory along with a new production facility for paving stones. However, it would turn out that the production could be sold in Poland, and export was not neccessary. Instead a new market was created witch stoked IBF's engagement in Poland, which over the years has expanded with a factory in Torun, another in Radomsko, ond five ready-mix concrete stations.
