Collaboration with Vocational Schools
Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry
IBF collaborates with the country’s vocational schools for the training of landscapers, civil engineering constructors, pavers, carpenters, roofers, masons, building constructors, concrete technicians, and sewer contractors.
We believe that our extensive expertise in concrete can positively contribute to the educational pathways of students and course participants, enhancing their future careers in the construction industry. With a closer relationship with the country's vocational schools, we aim to share knowledge about material familiarity, production insights, and experiences from our role as a supplier in the construction sector, all on the premises of the school and the instructors.
Specifically, we offer:
> Invitations to company visits with tours of our production facilities, providing an insight into the process from the gravel pit to the finished product.
> Products for teaching purposes at favorable prices.
> Participation in classes alongside the instructor, strictly on the educational institution's terms.
We admire the Craftsman - Even During Training
The initiative to expand collaboration with the country's technical schools is part of our overarching desire to focus more on the practitioners in Danish Construction.
Over the past two years, we have run the campaign "We admire the Craftsman."
With this campaign, we aim to counter the trend of fewer and fewer young people choosing a vocational education. We do this because, as part of the construction industry, we rely on skilled craftsmen who perform quality, robust work. It is essential that more young people see the value of skilled craftsmanship. For this reason, we support the annual DM in Skills, the World's Wildest Bridge Builders, and also award our own IBF Prize - recognition for young newly trained individuals who have performed exceptionally well.
Within our own organization, IBF takes in apprentices in various fields, including metalworker and electrician apprentices.
Statement from the Agricultural Education Center Århus
IBF has a close collaboration with Jordbrugets UddannelsesCenter Århus. The education manager, Peder Glud, discusses the collaboration with IBF.
"We have had—and still have—a really good collaboration with IBF for several years. All our groups studying to become landscape gardeners visit IBF for company tours, gaining a solid understanding of the production of the products they use every day. Additionally, Kim (note: Falkenberg from IBF) has participated in teaching alongside our instructors. You can tell that Kim is truly passionate about concrete.
It provides great insight for our students and course participants to have Kim involved in the teaching, who contributes with stories and personal experiences over many years. Our students get more enthusiastic when they can see that an external professional is just as committed to professional pride and craftsmanship as we are. We are very satisfied with the collaboration, as it ensures our students are equipped with the latest knowledge. Expertise and factual accuracy are paramount."
