Circular urban development with tiles of recycled concrete
At Lisbjerg School, we have supplied sidewalk tiles made of recycled concrete. The school path is 500 meters long and provides the children with a strong and more sustainable base that will last many years into the future. By using recycled concrete in tiles, we avoid using gravel, which is expected to become a scare resource in the future.
How IBF Tiles from Recycled Concrete are Produced
The tiles use crushed concrete, which Aarhus AffaldVarme has received from demolitions. The concrete is crushed, cleaned, and sorted by size before being used in the new tiles. The recycled tiles are the result of a collaboration with Aarhus AffaldVarme and the Department of Technical Services and Environment in Aarhus Municipality, and have initially been laid on a trial stretch in Lisbjerg. The sidewalk tiles can be reused over and over again.
