Besides our internal responsibility, IBF contributes to a collective improvement across the entire industry through Dansk Beton (Danish Concrete). The association, with the gathering of more than 50 key players, including IBF, has launched the initiative Sustainable Concrete. This initiative is based on creating a future where the CO2 foorprint from concrete construction is 70% lower than today. The goal is to be achieved by 2030 without compromising on quality, comfort, and economy.
The initiative is based on 35 specific measures that, by 2030, are to meet this ambitious goal.
These specific measures are distributed across five tracks and presented in Dansk Beton's roadmap towards 2030. Since the first publication of Dansk Beton's roadmap in 2019, a supplement has been added in 2023. In 2023, the ambition was adjusted from 50% to a 70% CO2 reduction. The new and more ambitious target arises from the cement industry having released their goals for 2030 within the last year. And since the biggest impact of the concrete industry is what we sall scope 3 from the cement used in the concrete, it is logical to recalculate the concrete industry's goal assuming the cement industry succeeds.
